My GREEN Campus Carnival is organizing by Student Representative Council (MPP) of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak 2013/2014. Under My GREEN Campus Carnival, 4 sub-programmes will be carried on which including Run @ Samarahan Carbon Free Morning, My GREEN Campus Exhibition, Fund Raising for WWF Malaysia and D’Oasis Charity Dinner.
Run @ Samarahan Carbon Free Morning programme aims to encourage UNIMAS student/staff and local community to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Other than that, this programme also aims to increase awareness among them about the importance of reducing carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles which running on fossil fuels inside campus and around Kota Samarahan.
My GREEN Campus Exhibition programme intends to provide the exposure regarding current environmental issues to the staffs and students of UNIMAS. This programme hopes to bring a change to the attitude of UNIMAS staffs and students towards the environment. Besides that, the programme also aims to create alertness among the UNIMAS’s staff/student about the importance of protecting the environment. Next, the programme also hopes to instil the conciousness of UNIMAS’s staff/student towards current enviromental issues.
Apart from that, D'Oasis Charity Dinner Programme tends to encourage UNIMAS staff/student to maintain healthy ldiet by reducing the consumption of meat. Besides from creating awareness among UNIMAS staff/student about the needs of protecting the ecosystem, this programme also tends to bring a message about “deliciousness of vegetable” to all the guests.
All the sub-programmes act as a platform for all UNIMAS staff/student and local community to involve directly or indirectly in preservation and conservation of environment. Through the objectives that have been outlined, we believe that this programme will create positive impact to them in the future.
Carnival My GREEN Campus programme is a type of welfare and social programme, all the income will be donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia (WWF Malaysia) which is a non-governmental organization that focuses on issues related to the environment.
